Reducing Stress Through Music
If you’re finding yourself stressed, it might be time to try some new relaxation techniques. For instance, music can be very effective for relaxing and managing stress. Music can have a remarkable effect on your body and state of mind. Faster-paced music can help with concentration and increase alertness while upbeat music can make you feel more optimistic and positive. Slower music can help you relax your muscles and quiet your thoughts while releasing the stress of the day.
How Music Can Help You Sleep Step-by-Step
Give yourself about 45 minutes for this exercise.
Start by finding a relaxing sleeping position. If you have lower back pain or poor circulation, make sure you have your knee pillow or elevation pillow in place.
Next, turn on calm, soothing music, sounds or a meditation to listen to. This can be any genre, but make sure to avoid anything that irritates you. Irritation raises stress. The goal is to feel calm and relaxed to fall into sleep.
Don’t force yourself through anything. If it's not working, switch to another song or track. This can create tension, not reduce it. This is why you want to allot enough time to go through this exercise. It's okay to not "get it right" the first time.
