What is a Brush Cut?

Looking for an easy and short haircut you can master at home? The Brush Cut might be for you. Ben Brewster shows how easy it is to do the Brush Cut using your Wahl clipper. This fuss-free style looks sharp and can be touched up whenever you want. Go on, give it a go!

How to Style a Brush Cut Step-by-Step

Step 1

Dampen your hair with a spray bottle and brush it away from your face.

Step 2

Oil your Wahl clipper blades and attach the appropriate guide comb attachment for the desired length you want.

Step 3

Begin by cutting Section 1 (see infographic below) using a rocking motion to help blend each section together for a smooth and even haircut to the length of your liking. Be sure to cut the hair at the nape of the neck.

Step 4

Gradually move up in guard length through Sections 2 and 3 (see infographic below). Remember, the higher the guard number, the longer the cut. Continue cutting around your head.

Step 5

Now it’s time to move to the top of the head (Section 4, see infographic below). Use the clipper-over-finger technique to trim some length off the top. Use the hair you’ve cut as a guide to keep the length consistent. When Section 4 is done, if you notice any cut lines between sections, use the attachment guard you used on a lower section to blend the sections.

Step 6

To remove more bulk from behind the ears, use the inverted clipper technique around the ear for a clean line.

Step 7

Using your Wahl trimmer, touch up your sideburns and the back of your neck and style your hair using Wahl Hair Pomade.
