Step-By-Step: How to Trim Your Eyebrows

Your eyebrows are an important part of the grooming routine. Like our beard, ears and nose, they can get a little unruly if not maintained. Yet the eyebrows are one of those areas we often forget—or put off. Thankfully, cleaning up and trimming your eyebrows can be quick and easy.

1

Remove the Bulk

If your eyebrows are a little bushy or there are long hairs sticking out above and below your eyebrows, you’ll first want to trim down your eyebrows. You can use a personal trimmer like the Manscaper Regulator, which includes an eyebrow guide comb with customizable lengths. Or you can use your beard trimmer and comb.

2

Find Your Shape

Everyone’s eyebrows are unique. The goal is to identify your shape so you know how much around the brows you need to trim. To do this, begin with the sides closest to the nose. Your eyebrows should start at or just outside the corner of your eyes and move up to the arch and then slope back down slightly on the sides closest to the ears. Once you know your shape, you can determine what hairs outside of that shape should be trimmed.

3

Trim Around the Brows

Once you’ve found your shape, you’ll want to edge around the eyebrows and remove the excess hair between the eyebrows and on the outer ends of them. Some trimmers, such as the Stainless Steel Lithium Ion Trimmer, come with a detail attachment that is essentially a trimmer with a small trimmer head. It works great for trimming in tight spots. Pro tip: Because the skin can be looser around the eyes, pull the skin tight as you trim to make sure you get all the unwanted hairs .

Questions You’re Asking:

How Do You Trim Bushy Eyebrows?

If your eyebrows are thick, removing some of that bulk is an easy way to keep them under control. You can do this by using a trimmer with an eyebrow attachment, such as the Wahl Manscaper Regulator, or by using a comb to expose the longer hairs and using your beard trimmer above the comb to remove those hairs.

Can I Use Scissors to Trim My Eyebrows?

You certainly can, but we advise caution using sharp, pointy objects like scissors around the eyes. If you do use scissors, we recommend using a comb to expose the long hairs and scissor cut above the comb, thereby providing a barrier between the scissors and your eyes and skin.

Should I Use a Trimmer or Tweezers to Remove the Hair Between My Eyebrows?

We recommend using a detail trimmer to remove the hair around the eyebrows because repeated removal of hair with tweezers can result in damaged hair follicles. This damage can result in follicles that fail to regrow in the future, and you may want to change the look of your eyebrows at a later time.

How Can I Avoid Over Trimming My Eyebrows?

Use a personal trimmer such as the Manscaper Regulator, which includes an eyebrow guide with customizable lengths. That way you can start at the highest length and work your way down. When trimming around your eyebrows, be careful not to trim too much of the actual eyebrow as this can make them appear too thin in shape.

What Tools Do I Need to Trim My Eyebrows?

Having the right tools to trim your eyebrows is key. We recommend using the Manscaper Regulator for removing bulk and a trimmer with a detail attachment, such as the Stainless Steel Lithium Ion Trimmer, for trimming the hairs on the edges and around the brows.
