How to Cut your Hair to have a Textured Cut
A textured haircut is popular for men of all ages. This haircut works well for all hair types. It tones down volume and helps shape thick hair. For those with thinning or fine hair, it helps create body, which gives the appearance of a fuller head of hair.
How to Get a Textured Cut
Dampen the hair and comb it down so that it lies straight
Attach guard #3
Begin cutting in front of the ears using upward rocking motions
Work your way around the sides to the back of the head blending sections 2 and 3 as you go
Use the clipper-over-finger technique to cut the top section of the head. Cutting the top section at a slightly different length can provide more texture
Cut the bangs last
Use a #5 guide comb to blend the shorter sides with the longer top section
Use the inverted clipper technique to clean up around the ears and the back of the neck

Tips for the Perfect Cut
For detailing around the ears, sideburns and neckline, try the inverted clipper technique. Just turn the clipper upside down so the blade is facing downward.
Hold the clipper in your hand as if it is a thick pencil. Touch the blade to the skin. There’s no need to press firmly.
