Try this first - Blade maintenance:

Move the taper lever up and down a few times.

Place one drop of clipper oil in the center of the movable top blade and one drop of oil on each end of the top blade.

Next, add one drop of oil to the heel of the stationary bottom blade on each side. (5 drops of oil total)

Turn clipper on and run to distribute the oil. When oil is evenly distributed, turn clipper off and wipe off excess oil with a soft cloth. If this does not help, please contact Wahl and we will help you further - Call us at 800-729-9245 or email us at techsupport@wahlclipper.com

My clipper does not want to charge - what do I do?

If your clipper does not seem to take a charge, check the following before returning it for repair:

  1. Check outlet operation by plugging in another appliance.
  2. Make sure the outlet is not connected to a switch which turns the power at the outlet off.
  3. Be sure the clipper is properly connected to the recharging transformer, all connections are secure and the switch on the clipper is turned “OFF - 0”.
  4. If your electricity is connected to a master power switch, we suggest the clipper be disconnected from the charger anytime the master switch is off. Leaving the unit plugged into a dead outlet or an unplugged charger will drain the battery.
  5. If clipper does not run and it is completely charged, turn the unit “ON - I” and pinch or push the blades manually. (Oil may have dried out between the blades, so they may be temporarily stuck together).

The charger light is not changing colors - why?

The red indicator light is just that - it indicates that the clipper has been connected to a power source. It will not change colors or go off once the clipper is fully charged. If you need more information, please contact Wahl at techsupport@wahlclipper.com and we will help you.

How often should I give my dog a bath?

Dog bathing doesn't need to be difficult. With preparation, perseverance and a positive attitude, bathing can easily become a fun and fulfilling part of the regular grooming cycle, while helping your pet avoid many diseases and infections. A general rule of thumb, according to ASPCA recommendations, is to bathe your dog at least every three months, increasing the frequency during the hot, summer months. Many breeds and coat styles, however, require more frequent bathing (as do, naturally, mischief-finding, outdoor-loving dogs), while others necessitate fewer baths. Regular bathing will also help keep shedding to a minimum with most such breeds. Remember to use approved dog shampoo, preferably one that also conditions, detangles and moisturizes. Wahl has all of the dog bathing products you need.

How do I clean my blades?

To remove hair from between the blades, use the cleaning brush provided. DO NOT USE WATER TO CLEAN THE BLADES. For best results, after brush cleaning the blades, add Wahl clipper oil to the blades.
OIL:
The blades on your new clipper should be oiled every few haircuts. For best results, place three drops on front of each blade and one drop on each side of the blade as shown. Use only Wahl Clipper oil (a small bottle is included in this kit, additional oil can be purchased separately, see www.grooming.Wahl.com for details).
DO NOT USE HAIR OIL, GREASE, OR ANY OIL MIXED WITH KEROSENE OR ANY SOLVENT.

How do I align my blades?

The bottom blade holes are larger than the shanks of the blade screws. When the blade screws are loosened the bottom blade can be aligned with the top blade. Tighten the screws and ensure that they are kept tight. The end of the top blade teeth should align 1/32" to 1/16"(.79mm to 1.59m") back from and parallel to the bottom blade. This ensures that the clipper does not cut too close and prevents the moving blade from touching the skin. Please explore the How to section of our website for help.

What blades are available for different products?

Please refer to the Product Accessories page at www.wahlusa.com

Are the blades really, really sharp?

While the blades are sharp, there is relatively little chance to cut yourself due to the blade alignment of both the top and bottom blades.

Maintenance

Clipper blade maintenance

Move the taper lever up and down a few times.
Place one drop of clipper oil in the center of the movable top blade and one drop of oil on each end of the top blade.

Aligning clipper blades

Your Wahl clipper blades were oiled and aligned before leaving our factory. Blades may need to be realigned if they have been bumped or removed for cleaning. To determine if realignment is necessary, compare your clipper blades with this sketch.

  1. If your clipper has a taper lever, position the lever in the close cut position.
  2. End of top blade teeth should be approximately 1/32-inch (.64 mm) back from bottom blade.
  3. Extreme left-hand tooth of top blade must be covering or to the left of the first small tooth of bottom blade.
  4. Extreme right-hand tooth of top blade must be touching the big tooth on the bottom blade.

If blade alignment is incorrect, add a few drops of Wahl Clipper Oil to the blades, turn clipper “On” for a few moments, turn “OFF” and unplug. Loosen screws slightly and adjust. Tighten screws after blades are aligned. Other than blades, this clipper has no user-serviceable parts.

Power screw

You can reduce the “clatter sound” by adjusting the power screw. The power screw was adjusted for peak efficiency before leaving the factory. However, if voltage in your home is too high or low; the clipper power screw may need adjustment.

  2. Then, slowly turn power screw in a counterclockwise direction, just until noise stops.
