Western Soul Mustache
Forget the big hat and boots. Let your facial hair do the talking for you. It’s basically a Western Mustache with a short patch below the lip.
Make it Yours
- 1
Closely shave everything but the mustache and Soul Patch area.
- 2
Let the mustache area grow for at least two weeks. The look requires bushier whiskers.
- 3
As the mustache grows, you also want to use your Wahl® trimmer to shape small, half-inch strips of hair that run vertically along the sides of the mouth
- 4
Make sure to create a line of separation between the upper lip and the mustache itself.
- 5
Allow hair to grow full all the way up to the start of the nostrils.
- 6
Finally, you’ll want shape the Soul Patch. Use your trimmer to trim a triangular shape of hair that points like an arrow toward your chin.

Product SelectorAdditional Mustache Tips

Always comb hair straight down before you trim

Use a compact precision ground trimmer—like the Wahl Mustache Trimmer—for great lines and hard-to-reach areas like under the nose

Experiment with different styles to see what shape suits your face or personality best

When trimming with a guide comb, work from inside out and cut in a downward motion

Applying too much pressure with your trimmer may remove more hair than desired

Use the taper guide comb post trim to refine or tighten up any whiskers above the lip

Remember, style dictates the amount of time you need before trims
